The hall is now open to the public free of charge from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily, with no reservation needed for individual visitors.

The memorial hall was put into use on November 12, 1983. Its main building is a composite structure comprising front, middle and rear sections.

The three-story front section, with a lobby on the first floor and 4 exhibition halls on the first and second floors. On the third floor, three pavilion-style roofs are arranged in the shape of the Chinese character "shan" (mountain), housing a meeting room, a VIP lounge and the Kwok Tak Seng Memorial Hall.

The middle section is a large modern theater with 1,471 seats on two floors, and the two-story rear section contains VIP reception rooms and dressing rooms for performers.

The site, formerly known as Renshan Mountain, has been the political and cultural center since the establishment of Xiangshan County. In 2009, the central axis of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Park was designated as Zhongshan city's "Point of Origin."
