In May 2025, the Guangdong Zhongshan Pufferfish Tech Station in Tanzhou Town received official approval from the China Rural Special Technology Association (CRSTA), becoming part of China's national network of 285 agricultural technology innovation platforms. On August 8, the station was unveiled at the Tanzhou-based Zhongshan Yuzeyuan Breeding Co Ltd.
Co-established by Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, Guangdong Ocean University, Guangdong Rural Special Technology Association and Tanzhou Agriculture and Forestry Service Center, this platform integrates government guidance, industrial application, academic research and technological transfer. Its core mission is to propel Tanzhou's pufferfish industry toward intelligent production and standardized quality control through collaborative innovation.
Yuzeyuan operates as an integrated aquaculture enterprise, combining advanced breeding, hatchery operations, farmer training, applied R&D, and industry-academia collaboration. Spanning 1,170 mu (78 hectares) of purpose-built facilities, the company has developed specialized expertise in pufferfish cultivation, holding 11 utility model patents.
