The Village Super League held in Rongjiang county, Guizhou province has recently captivated global audiences as international football legends Roberto Baggio and Roberto Carlos lit the tournament torch.

Designed by Zhongshan-based company MDD IDEA, the indigo torch integrates special cultural elements of Guizhou, such as Dong drum towers, Miao silver ornaments, and dragon and water ripple patterns, with football elements.

A Greater Bay Area design powerhouse for over a decade, MDD IDEA has spearheaded torch designs for major events since 2008, including Asian Youth Games Singapore and Olympic Winter Games Beijing. 

This Village Super League project's 1.5-month sprint saw collaboration with Olympic torch mastermind Huang Qijun (as technical advisor) and Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 torch maker Horisun (responsible for manufacturing and technical maintenance).

MDD IDEA founder Wu Hao believes Zhongshan's manufacturing ecosystem provides fertile ground for industrial design innovation, while the market-responsive design capabilities that bridge advanced technologies with commercial viability are key drivers for the manufacturing sector's upgrading.
