The long-dormant Guangli Canning Factory in Zhongshan's Nantou Town was reborn as the Zhongshan Can Art Garden on June 22.
Established in 1987 as a national second-tier enterprise in the early years of China's reform and opening-up, Guangli Canning Factory gained global recognition through its "Feiyue" brand products exported worldwide. After ceasing operations in 2002, the site lay vacant for over two decades.
In recent years, Nantou has transformed the factory into a cultural and tourism landmark integrating sightseeing, cultural creativity, tourism, homestays, catering, entertainment, and community-based offices through historical and cultural restoration, artistic infusion, industrial restructuring and commercial revitalization.
With a total investment of approximately 120 million yuan and covering an area of about 45,000 square meters, the project has attracted over 300 distinctive merchants to settle in.
