The left-line tunnel of the Hengmen Shaft-Xiangshan Station segment of the Nanzhong Intercity Railway Zhongshan section achieved full connection on February 2.

Construction on the Zhongshan section is progressing smoothly, with 10 shield tunneling machines having completed their drives across the line. Another 8 tunnel boring machines are actively advancing in other parts.
Six stations, including Xingzhong, Qijiang New Town, Qijiang Avenue, Zhongshan, Torch and Xiangshan, have completed their main structures.
Nanzhong (Nansha to Zhongshan) Intercity Railway spans 47.6 kilometers, with the Zhongshan section 28.5 kilometers. It will feature 12 new stations (1 elevated), designed for 160 kilometer/hour operation. The route connects Wanqingsha station in Guangzhou's Nansha District to Xingzhong station in Zhongshan.

Upon completion, Nanzhong Intercity Railway will integrate with Guangzhou Metro Line 18, enabling 45-minute express transit between Zhongshan's Qijiang New Town and Guangzhou's Zhujiang New Town.
