Train-turned homestay in Zhongshan catches visitors' eyes
2026-05-14

In Yakou Village in Zhongshan's Nanlang subdistrict, a vintage "green-skinned train" lies beside the rice paddies. Since the beginning of May, this train-turned homestay has been open for trial operation and become the most eye-catching landmark in the village.

The refurbished carriages retain their original hard-seat and soft-sleeper layouts and now feature central ventilation systems and constant temperature soaking pools.

The locomotive has been converted into a 40-seat afternoon tea area, blending nostalgia with comfort.

Echoing the train homestay, a rural courtyard nearby, created by local people, has transformed a once-barren plot into a garden-style leisure space.

The courtyard offers light meals, snacks, coffee and stove-boiled tea, perfectly catering to afternoon tea demand.

The Yakou East Embankment has also reopened, with a brand-new look following upgrades.

Visitors now can stroll along the embankment, enjoying the sea breeze, sunset and coffee in a safe, relaxing setting.
