Guangdong Traffic Police announced the first batch of 1,700 slots under the Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles plan, which allows vehicles from Guangdong province to head south to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Among the winners, 211 Zhongshan car owners secured spots as the first cohort of single-plate vehicles permitted to drive into Hong Kong's downtown area.

Approved vehicles can commence Hong Kong city driving from 00:00 December 23 following regulatory requirements.
