The launch ceremony for the 2026 Zhongshan-Penang Trade & Cultural Carnival was held in Zhongshan on August 1. Harris Alwi, consul general of Malaysia in Guangzhou, along with corporate representatives from both Zhongshan and Penang, gathered to witness the unveiling of the "Penang-Zhongshan Business & Cultural Tourism Hub."

Multiple strategic cooperation agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed between the two sides, marking a new milestone in bilateral cooperation across trade, culture and tourism, education, branding, and industry.

Harris Alwi stated the "Penang‑Zhongshan Business & Cultural Tourism Hub" presents an excellent opportunity for Penang. Bilateral cooperation is not limited to a single agreement. It has gone beyond traditional trade and expanded into a wider range of fields.
