On March 21, the opening game of the 2026 Yue BA, the Guangdong City Basketball League, tipped off in Guangzhou, with Zhongshan traveling to face the home side, Guangzhou.

Despite trailing for most of the game, Zhongshan mounted a dramatic late comeback to secure an 86-83 victory. Their brilliant performance of unity, tenacity and never-say-die attitude won thunderous applause from the entire audience.
