2026-03-04

The 39th Zhongshan Charity Parade took place on Xingzhong Avenue on March 3, the Lantern Festival (15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar). Consular officers from over 20 countries in Guangzhou and foreign residents in Zhongshan joined the international delegation, walking hand in hand to share love.

Regular participant Jerry Grey from Australia described Zhongshan in one word: "Welcoming." After traveling extensively across China, he considers Zhongshan his second hometown, where he finds deep belonging and happiness.

Turkish friend Gorur Ercin brought his family to the parade, fully immersed in joy and emotion. He emphasized that the event is not only a charity drive but also a cultural feast. Folk performances like dragon and lion dances, each with unique charm and profound meaning, let him experience the depth of Chinese traditional culture firsthand.

Adama Dieye, Consul General of Senegal in Guangzhou, admired the event's core spirit. He noted that the parade blends festive celebration with support for the vulnerable, embodying mutual aid through action — a spirit that moves people and deserves global promotion.

Lashinka Dammullage, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou, praised the event highly. She highlighted Zhongshan's perfect fusion of the Lantern Festival and charity, which preserves traditions while giving the holiday new philanthropic meaning, making the event a unique cultural and charitable symbol.
