The outdoor terrace of the Rain Nook cafe in Chongkou village of Nanlang subdistrict was packed on November 4. Some visitors were experiencing a leisurely life while sipping coffee, and some others were taking photos in the rice paddies to soak up a pleasant autumn afternoon.

Chongkou has been quietly transformed since Guangdong launched the high-quality development project for hundreds of counties, thousands of towns, and tens of thousands of villages. The newly-opened tourism road circling the Wuguishan Mountains has made the village far easier to reach, and the scenery along the way is getting prettier.
Better roads and a better environment have brought a surge of visitors. "We are seeing far more visitors, especially at weekends. Cyclists and sightseers from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai and other Greater Bay Area cities keep coming," said Xu Jialing, owner of the Rain Nook.
