Initiated by the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme was launched in Zhongshan in June 2021. It aims to help young Hong Kongers learn about development opportunities on the Chinese mainland and promote exchanges.
Under the scheme, participating companies must hire graduates with at least a bachelor's degree at a monthly salary of no less than HK$18,000, while these employees also receive a monthly living allowance of 2,000 yuan from the local government.
The 18‑month scheme allows the employer and employee to sign a labor contract after its conclusion if both parties agree.
So far, nine Hong Kong‑invested enterprises have recruited 28 young Hong Kongers to work in Zhongshan through the scheme.
