The booting ceremony of micro-drama Xiangshan Boystook place in Zhongshan's Gangkou town on July 9.

Paying tribute to the 160th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth, the series centers on young people's efforts to carry forward Cantonese opera, and many of the key scenes will be shot in Gangkou.

The story follows Ah Jie, a young native of Zhongshan, who tries to save a long-established Cantonese opera troupe from disbanding, discovers similarities between the basic martial moves of Cantonese opera and street dance. Inspired, he decides to create a cross-genre fusion. With guidance from local mentors, he promotes a performance combining Cantonese opera and street dance, dubbed "martial dance," via livestreaming, and ultimately secures a stage for Cantonese opera.

Professional Cantonese opera performers are invited to perform, and street dance choreographers are hired to design the movements, integrating the two art forms through movement, language and music.
