The ancient village Yongmo is not only the hometown of Mr Zheng Guanying, a modern Chinese enlightenment thinker, but also the only place in the Chinese mainland that Michael Jackson ever visited, and a renowned hometown of overseas Chinese.

Driven by the "High-quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages," the village has taken the Meisu Yongmo — a homestay renovated from the village's first overseas Chinese house — as a model, and has been steadily revitalizing its stock of overseas Chinese houses: the Overseas Chinese Building has been turned into the Xiangshan Study; Hope Coffee offers a cozy hangout for young people, and the Zheng's Banquet serves up authentic Sanxiang home-style feasts...

As a result, overseas Chinese have been drawn back to the village, local villagers have found jobs right on their doorstep, and the historical overseas Chinese village has been infused with new life through this revitalization.
