An intangible cultural heritage experience center of Juxiangyuan Almond Cake, a Zhongshan specialty that embodies century-old pastry-making heritage and the nostalgic longing of overseas Zhongshanese, has recently opened at Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Park.

Inside, a gallery traces the Juxiangyuan brand's century-long export history and its role in connecting overseas Chinese with their roots. Regular demonstrations of traditional baking techniques, hands-on workshops and cultural talks offer visitors an immersive look at the timeless craft of almond cake making.
Founded in 1918, Juxiangyuan began exporting its almond cakes to overseas communities in the 1920s. In 2009, its traditional production method was inscribed on Guangdong province's intangible cultural heritage list.
