Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.7% year on year and 0.4% month on month in May. For the January-May period, the average CPI was down 0.6% from a year earlier, with the decline narrowing by 0.3 percentage points from January-April.
In May, food prices fell 2.4% year on year, while non-food prices rose 1.4%. Consumer goods prices rose 1.2%, and service prices 0.3%. The core CPI, excluding food and energy, rose 0.4%.
By category, other goods and services prices rose 7.0%, transportation and communication 4.4%, household goods and services 2.4%, education, culture and entertainment 1.1%, and healthcare 0.6%.
