The Zhongshan team for the 2026 Guangdong City Football Super League (GDSL) held its departure ceremony on the evening of April 15 at Xingzhong Stadium.

Coaching staff and players appeared in full team kit. Highlights included a live rendition of the original Cantonese team song Yue T Yue Qiang.

The coaching team is led by head coach Li Yuanxiong, with former Chinese international Wu Pingfeng on board. The 35-player roster ranges from seasoned 38-year-old veterans to 18-year-old newcomers, including local teachers and university students.

Zhongshan will play warmup matches against Zhuhai on April 17 and Shaoguan on April 19. Their GDSL journey will begin on April 26 with an away match versus Zhaoqing.
