In February 2026, Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) declined 0.6% year-on-year, showing a 1.5-percentage-point narrower drop compared to January. Month-on-month, it rose 1.7%, accelerating by 1.7 percentage points from the previous month, according to data from the Zhongshan Survey T of the National Bureau of Statistics.
Breaking down components: food prices fell 1.9% (year-on-year, same below), while non-food prices edged down 0.4%. Consumer goods prices dropped 1.7%, contrasting with a 0.4% rise in service prices. Core CPI (excluding food and energy) remained flat.
Among eight major categories, other goods and services prices surged 9.0%, household items and services prices rose 3.4%, and education, culture and entertainment prices gained 2.2%.
Conversely, clothing prices plummeted 6.0%, transportation and communication prices fell 2.8%, food, tobacco, alcohol and dining-out prices declined 1.8%, healthcare prices dipped 0.4%, and housing prices dropped 0.2%.
