The 2026 Zhongshan New Year Concert featuring the 60-member Symphonie Orchester Hanover from Germany unfolded at Zhongshan Culture & Art Center on January 1 evening.

The show included European masterpieces, such as the Die Fledermaus Overture and Seid umschlungen, Millionen, as well as playful miniatures like A Sleigh Ride and The Waltzing Cat.
The German orchestra also performediconic Chinese compositions, such as Butterfly Lovers and The Red Detachment of Women, bridging cultures through melodic storytelling.
Led by acclaimed conductor Peter Kuhn, the performance drew praise for its cross-cultural dialogue. "Zhongshan is a city in full bloom — every street corner bursts with flowers, and its serene charm truly delighted us," Kuhn remarked.
