Starting December 1, the new mandatory national safety standards for electric bicycles (e-bikes) have officially come into effect. The sale of e-bikes that comply with the old national standards has been completely discontinued.

The new standards impose a speed limit of 25 kilometers per hour and the maximum curb weight for an e-bike of 63 kilograms. The new standards require an automatic engine cutoff if the vehicle exceeds that speed.
