On September 25, Guo Wenhai, secretary of the CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee, met with Leland Sun, great-grandson of Sun Yat-sen and chairman of the Sun Yat-sen Center Foundation, to reminisce about hometown bonds and explore new development pathways.
"Welcome home!" Guo Wenhai extended a warm welcome to Leland Sun and his delegation, then briefly highlighted Zhongshan's economic and social development. He noted that Zhongshan and Honolulu are sister cities, and expressed hope that Mr Leland Sun and the Sun Yat-sen Center Foundation will serve as a bridge and bond to further promote economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two cities. Next year marks the 160th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth. Guo Wenhai extended a sincere invitation to Leland Sun and Sun's descendants to return home for a visit, and to explore, connect and share compelling stories of Zhongshan, the Greater Bay Area and China, jointly building Zhongshan into a more beautiful place.
Leland Sun expressed heartfelt joy and pride at his hometown's thriving progress and transformative changes. He noted the Sun Yat-sen Center Foundation will fully leverage its dual role as both bridge and bond, actively promoting Zhongshan's development opportunities and investor-friendly environment to overseas Chinese communities. This aims to attract more overseas Chinese to invest and start businesses in Zhongshan, and make contribution to promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries and advancing Zhongshan's socio-economic development.
