The Ma Zaiming Memorial Hall, originally constructed in 1923, has unveiled a revitalization and investment plan. Ma Jianji, grandson of Ma Yingbiao, accompanied by family members, returned to their hometown to re-entrust the management of the memorial hall to the local government. The South District subdistrict office will oversee custodianship and collaborate with professional investors to advance heritage preservation and adaptive reuse of the site.
The project earmarks 68 million yuan for a comprehensive upgrade encompassing heritage restoration and functional revitalization, aiming to transform the site into a multi-functional exhibition space and emerging culture-tourism landmark in the Greater Bay Area.
Situated at the intersection of Yingbiao Road and Nanbao Street, the memorial hall was established a century ago by Ma Yingbiao, founder of Hong Kong's Sincere Department Store and renowned patriotic entrepreneur, in honor of his father Ma Zaiming.
