During this period, Zhongshan is expected to experience higher-than-average total rainfall compared to historical levels, with frequent heavy precipitation events. Residents should take precautions against short-duration heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and secondary disasters triggered by such extreme weather.
Meteorologists forecast five heavy rainfall events, occurring on May 24, May 28-June 1, June 6-8, June 11-14, and June 17-19.
The term "Dragon Boat Rain" refers to the period of widespread heavy rainfall in South China around the Dragon Boat Festival, typically from May 21 to June 20. It represents the wettest and most concentrated precipitation phase during Guangdong's early flood season.
