A container ship carrying building materials, fast‑moving consumer goods and packaging materials sailed from Zhongshan's Shenwan Port to Haikou's Xiuying Port on July 21, marking the launch of a direct container shipping route between the two ports.

Previously, container cargo from Zhongshan to Hainan province was usually transshipped via Guangzhou's Nansha or Shenzhen's Yantian ports, involving additional handling, longer transit times, and higher logistics costs.
The new service will run on a weekly schedule, with a sailing time of about 40 hours. It is expected to move more than 800 TEUs of stable cargo to the Hainan Free Trade Port each month, boosting the presence of "Made in Zhongshan" products in the Hainan market.
