The 2026 Spring Festival travel rush officially started on February 2, running for 40 days through March 13. Transport hubs such as Zhongshan Bus Terminal, Zhongshan Station and ShenZhong Link saw their first passenger surges.

Zhongshan Station expects 658,000 passenger trips during the period, averaging 16,400 daily, with 305,000 outbound passenger trips and 353,000 inbound passenger trips. Outbound travel peaks February 12-15, with February 13 hitting over 11,800 departures, and inbound travel peaks February 20-26.

This marks the second rush since the ShenZhong Link opened. Pre-holiday traffic surges start a week early before Chinese New Year. Return peaks February 22-23 may cause slowdowns at bidirectional tunnel portals and eastbound sections from Wanqingsha Interchange to West Island.
