The Xiangshan Bridge on the Zhongshan East Ring Expressway achieved a key milestone on October 21, with the completion of all 240 stayed-cable installations, setting the stage for main span closure by month's end.

Spanning 1,776 meters with an 880-meter main span and 270-meter towers, the bridge features dual-level decks accommodating eight lanes in both directions. It stands as China's widest and longest-span double-deck steel truss cable-stayed highway bridge. The longest cable reaches 477 meters, weighing up to 74.5 tons.
As previously reported, the main span closure is targeted for late October. The first phase of the East Ring Expressway is scheduled for completion and opening in 2026.
