During the just-ended National Day-Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the Sunwen West Road pedestrian street, a century-old commercial landmark in Zhongshan, brimmed with vibrant energy. In the first six days, it welcomed over 600,000 visitors, with some new businesses recording daily revenues exceeding 40,000 yuan. This bustling scene underscores the road's innovative "culture-tourism integration" strategy, featuring diverse new business models.
A standout was Sun Qizhen Teahouse, opened September 28. Designed to evoke the teahouse Sun Yat-sen frequented during the Republic of China era, it captivates tourists with authentic Cantonese dim sum and immersive period settings, serving over 1,000 customers daily. To align with local tastes, the restaurant has researched specialties of different towns and sub-districts to craft a tailored menu and offers all-day tea service for continuous refreshment enjoyment.
The revamped Zhongshan Premium Industrial Products Exhibition Center, or Zhongshan Brand Hub, also drew crowds. Showcasing nearly 800 products from 170 leading enterprises, it provides a one-stop destination for "Made in Zhongshan" goods while highlighting the city's manufacturing prowess and brand appeal.
Beyond dining and shopping, entertainment also flourished here. Xiangshan Theater hosted pop and vintage jazz concerts, Mid-Autumn poetry galas, and a special edition of the stage play Dr Sun Yat-sen, offering rich audio-visual experiences. The nearby coffee cluster became a youth hub, with unique drinks and interior designs attracting diverse customers.
Future attractions include Sihao Hotel's Republic-era themed rooms, and the Shiqi Rice Wine Workshop, showcasing local wine culture and derivative products, slated to open during the 2026 Spring Festival.
