Lanxi River waterfront coffee, music hall to open next month
2026-10-28

The Lanxi River waterfront coffee and music hall in Zhongshan, built at a cost of about 1.79 million yuan, is set to open to the public on November 1, marking the 160th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth.

The Lanxi River is where Dr Sun Yat-sen left his childhood footprints. Cuiheng New District (Nanlang subdistrict) has built 50 kilometers of new sewage interception pipelines, renovated 408 sewage outlets, and dredged 32,000 cubic meters of sediment — a combination of measures that has lifted the river's water quality and brought back its clear water and green banks.

The remediation project is scheduled for completion on October 31 and to open to the public on November 1, offering three distinct stretches: river viewing in the upper reach, water play in the middle section, and the coffee and music hall downstream.
