The 2025 Nantou Five-Person Canoe Race launched as scheduled on the Jiya Waterway Nantou section on September 21. 

A century-old intangible cultural heritage event in the town, this year's race drew 63 teams from local communities, marking its largest-ever scale.

After 2 hours of intense competition, Team Min'an #6 clinched the championship, with Teams Nancheng #2 and Suixi #6 taking second and third place, respectively.

"The best part is seeing more spectators, as many parents bring their kids to experience our tradition," said Mr Luo, a jubilant member of the winning Team Min'an #6. "It proves how our folk heritage is gaining renewed popularity."
