In August 2026, Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.2 percent year on year and 0.4 percent month on month.
On a year-on-year basis, food prices fell 1.4 percent, while non-food prices rose 1.7 percent. Prices of consumer goods increased 1.9 percent, while service prices rose 0.5 percent. Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose 1.3 percent.
Among the 8 major categories of goods (services) prices, seven recorded increases: transportation and communication, up 5.0 percent; other goods and services, up 3.6 percent; education, culture and recreation, up 2.2 percent; household goods and services, up 1.8 percent; healthcare, up 1.5 percent; housing, up 0.4 percent; and clothing, up 0.1 percent. Prices of food, tobacco, liquor and dining out fell 0.9 percent.
