Customs officers inspected chilled pork destined for Hong Kong at the workshop of Mansun, a food company in Zhongshan, in a final check before shipment on August 25.

Boxed portions of the chilled pork were loaded onto cold-chain trucks bound for Hong Kong, marking the launch of Zhongshan's first-ever supply of chilled pork to the Hong Kong market.

"Qualification to supply Hong Kong is really more like a 'credibility card' — it has helped us open the door to the high-end market," said Mai Jingfeng, Mansun's inspection and quarantine manager.

The company has already secured cooperation with major supermarket chains in Hong Kong, with daily chilled pork supply to be maintained at 6,000 to 10,000 kilograms. It also plans to expand into chilled beef and lamb for the Hong Kong market.
