A Longdu Ludou zongzi making competition and a series of activities kicked off on June 17 in Zhongshan's Dachong Town. A giant Ludou zongzi (a traditional sticky rice dumpling wrapped in Ludou leaves) standing 2.38 meters tall stole the show.

This "King of Zongzi" was crafted by 5 people over the course of a week, using nearly 300 strips of Lotus leaf.

Making Ludou zongzi is a long-standing folk tradition in Dachong, and this year was the first time it was held as a competition.

The event brought together intangible cultural heritage skills, folk activities and rural scenery displays, drawing nearly 300 people to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.
