Writers from 6 APEC member economies, including Indonesia, South Korea, Mexico, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam, visited Zhongshan on July 21 as an activity of the 2026 Global Writers in Guangdong Program. 

They toured Sun Yat-sen's former residence, the Cuiheng Folk House Exhibition Area and the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen to gather inspiration for authentic, multidimensional stories about Guangdong.

"I had read stories about Dr Sun Yat-sen when I was a child. He was an extraordinary figure," said Vietnamese writer Nguyen Khac Ngan Vi at Sun Yat-sen's former residence. She was particularly intrigued by the details of traditional Lingnan village life: "The gray walls, the old trees, the layout of the kitchen... They all make history feel so tangible."
