March 12 marked the 101st anniversary of the passing of Sun Yat-sen, a great pioneer of China's democratic revolution.
A solemn ceremony was held at the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen in Zhongshan to honor his enduring legacy of national independence, social progress and people's well-being, while pledging to uphold his patriotic ideals, revolutionary spirit and forward-looking vision.
Representatives from over 50 organizations, along with Sun's relatives, laid floral baskets before his statue.
March 12 also marked China's National Tree Planting Day, which was established to honor Sun Yat-sen and promote afforestation. City leaders joined Sun's relatives, entrepreneurs, Young Pioneers and other representatives in a tree-planting activity after the commemorative activity.
The "Traces of Time: The Charm of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao on the Postcards" opened to the public on the same day in the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen.
