China Pacific Property Insurance's Zhongshan branch on August 14 activated payment procedures immediately after collecting all claim documents, marking the city's first high-temperature insurance payout to be processed by August 15.
Mr Ding, an aquaculture farmer from Dongfeng Town and among Zhongshan's first high-temperature agricultural insurance policy holders, will receive 7,671 yuan in compensation. This will partially offset losses caused to his fishponds by recent extreme heat.
In recent years, the Zhongshan Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has steadily enhanced the agricultural insurance framework. Premiums underwritten surged from 6.3 million yuan in late 2020 to 135.98 million yuan in late 2024, while claim payouts jumped from 5.78 million yuan to 93.18 million yuan over the same period.
