On September 11, a netizen from Hebei province posted a video showcasing a washing machine, which was manufactured in 1987, still runs smoothly after more than three decades.
"It is older than me. My mom told me it cost 400 yuan back then. The quality is truly remarkable," the netizen said.
The nameplate indicates that the machine was produced by Zhongshan Motor Factory, the predecessor of the Weili company. The video quickly went viral, amassing 200,000 likes and shares in no time.
This marks the second time Weili has become an online sensation. In January 2024, another post about a 26-year-old washing machine still in use also garnered widespread attention.
In response to the uproar caused by this vintage washing machine, Weili dispatched personnel on a 700-kilometer journey to deliver a brand-new washing machine to the owner in Renqiu, Cangzhou, Hebei.
Established in 1980, Weili is a modern, integrated enterprise specializing in the research, development, production and sales of home appliances such as washing machines, microwave ovens and refrigerators. Its headquarters and manufacturing base are situated in the Fusha Industrial Park in Zhongshan.
With over 40 years of professional experience in washing machine R&D and manufacturing, Weili is the sole enterprise in China to have been honored with the title of "Washing Machine Tycoon of China."
In 2005, following a 150-million-yuan investment from Donlim, Weili recalibrated its strategy to prioritize overseas markets. Currently, the company allocates 60 million yuan annually towards new product development and manufacturing enhancements.
