Recently, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area yachting free travel program achieved a historic breakthrough: yachts from Hong Kong and Macao can now enter nine mainland cities in the GBA without the need for high security deposits, while temporary vessel nationality registration has also become more convenient. This new policy has injected fresh momentum into Zhongshan's yachting industry.
A decade ago, Modao Island in Shenwan Town, Zhongshan, became the country's first pilot zone for point-to-point yachting free travel with Macao. In 2025, Hong Kong-registered yachts can sail directly to Shenwan Port for maintenance without towing, allowing Shenwan Town to form a "Hong Kong market + Zhongshan service" cross-border synergistic development pattern.
Facing the market expansion brought in by the new policy, Shenwan Town will leverage its 42-kilometer golden coastline to establish itself as a "yacht manufacturing and after-sales service hub for the GBA." Fifteen key projects with a combined investment of nearly 15 billion yuan have already been mapped out, including infrastructure improvements on Modao Island and the upgrading and expansion of Shenwan Port.
