China on May 1 rolled out a policy granting zero-tariff treatment to imports from 53 African countries with which China has diplomatic relations. On June 5, a shipment of Pasabahce tall glasses imported by Zhongshan Huiming Trading Co received expedited clearance from the Zhongshan Port Customs, becoming the first goods cleared at Zhongshan Port to benefit from the policy.
Pasabahce is an internationally renowned daily utensil brand with a history spanning nearly a century. The shipment, valued at US$27,000 and originating in Egypt, is intended primarily for hotel use in China.
According to Huiming Trading's customs business chief, the zero-tariff measure not only lowers import costs but also provides strong support for the company's efforts to optimize its supply chain and diversify its overseas sourcing channels.
