A batch of garden shears made from newly developed low-carbon steel was ready for shipment from the workshop of Green Guard Industry Ltd, a Taiwan-invested company in Zhongshan's Tanzhou Town, to the Americas on August 17.

The company, with over 30 years in Zhongshan, is a hidden champion in the global garden tools sector. In 2024, Green Guard joined hands with Shougang Steel to set up a laboratory for developing steel used in garden tools.
Recently, the two partners unveiled their latest achievement: S75YYJ, a new-generation low-carbon pickled steel for garden tools. The product enables 100% of Green Guard's scrap steel to be recovered and reused by the steelmaker, raises the scrap ratio in steelmaking to 40%, and cuts overall carbon emissions by over 30% — a first in China. Its carbon footprint has been certified by Det Norske Veritas, giving the company a competitive edge in overseas green markets.
