Freer export corridor for Zhongshan-made home appliances
2026-08-10

Days before, a container train fully loaded with home appliances departed from Zhongshan's Huangpu Station for Shenzhen's Pinghu South Station. The cargo would then be shipped via Yantian Port to the rest of the world. This was the maiden run of the Changhong dedicated sea-rail intermodal service, providing a freer export corridor for home appliance manufacturers in the Greater Bay Area.

The sea-rail intermodal service enables seamless transportation routes from factories to railways and to ports. Logistics companies pick up products from factories in the morning, deliver them to railway freight yards, and complete inspection, loading and dispatch within the same morning, with the goods arriving at ports by afternoon. This reduces transit time by 25% and cuts total logistics costs by about 18% compared with road transport, directly benefiting appliance makers in Zhongshan.

Currently, the service runs regularly from Monday to Saturday. With customized transport solutions for home appliances, it has attracted major players such as Midea, Changhong and Homa to shift from road to rail transport.
