A shipment of refrigerators weighing approximately 8.45 tonnes on June 15 departed from Xiaolan Port in Zhongshan.

These refrigerators will be shipped by barge to Shekou Port in Shenzhen, where they will be loaded onto an international liner bound for overseas markets. This marks Zhongshan Port's first water-water multimodal transport export operation.

The water-water multimodal transport is an intermodal model where goods move in containers, with both domestic and cross-border legs conducted entirely by water.

Under the new model, the multimodal transport operator need only submit a single application to cover the entire multi-leg journey, eliminating the need for separate customs transit procedures for each shipment.
