Zhongshan's foreign trade hit 287.21 billion yuan in 2025, up 1.1% year-on-year. Exports rose 1.0% to 251.56 billion yuan, while imports grew 2.1% to 35.65 billion yuan.
The EU replaced the US as Zhongshan's top trading partner. Trade with China's Hong Kong and Japan surged 19.2% and 12.5% respectively. Exports to Belt and Road countries, ASEAN and Africa climbed 6.5%, 21% and 15.6% respectively, showcasing momentum.
Electromechanical products made up 79.8% of total exports (up 2.0%), with general machinery (up 15.1%), electronic components (up 46.2%), and high-tech goods (up 2.8%) driving growth.
Imports of electromechanical products rose 12.8%, led by electronic components (up 18.1%). General trade imports increased 3.7%, raising their share to 44.5%.
By year-end 2025, a total of 8,164 companies in Zhongshan engaged in import/export activities, up 30% year-on-year, with private firms accounting for over 70%.
