Zhongshan's total imports and exports reached 217.92 billion yuan in the first 8 months of this year, up 13.7 percent year on year, maintaining double-digit growth for 8 consecutive months.

Behind this strong trade performance is the additional industrial space created by the redevelopment of low-efficiency industrial parks. Seizing the opportunity, a number of export manufacturers have expanded their factory sites, added production equipment and increased capacity, steadily strengthening their competitiveness overseas.

Based in the Dacen Industrial Park in Huangpu Town, Zhongshan Chunkai Electrical Appliances Co specializes in the R&D and manufacturing of small home appliances, such as fans and heaters. More than 90 percent of its products are exported, and its business covers more than 30 countries and regions, including those in Europe, Oceania, Southeast Asia and the Americas.

Benefiting from Zhongshan's industrial park redevelopment policy, Chunkai secured 35.6 mu (about 2.4 hectares) of industrial land to build a new smart manufacturing industrial park, expanding its total floor area to 96,000 square meters, a major increase in production space.

"Thanks to the development space brought by the policy, we have expanded capacity across our production lines, and our total annual capacity has hit 10 million units," said Deng Huihui, assistant to chairman of Chunkai.
