Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) in July rose 0.4% year on year and 0.2% from a month earlier. Food prices fell 1.2% year on year, while non-food prices rose 0.7%. Consumer goods prices increased 0.7%, while service prices rose 0.1%. Core CPI, excluding food and energy prices, rose 0.5%.

Among the eight major categories of goods and services, prices for other goods and services rose 2.0% year on year. Prices for household goods and services, and for education, culture and recreation, each rose 1.9%. Transport and communications prices rose 1.8%, health care prices rose 1.5%, and housing prices edged up 0.1%. Clothing prices fell 1.5%, while food, tobacco, alcohol and eating-out prices declined 1.3%.
