Guangdong held a meeting on promoting coordinated development of urban and rural regions in Guangzhou on May 11. 

At the meeting, the first batch of key towns for modernization was unveiled. A total of 100 towns from 20 prefecture-level cities made the list, including Zhongshan's Guzhen and Sanxiang towns. 

Guided by modernization initiatives, Guangdong will prioritize developing key towns with sound location advantages, robust economies and high growth potential, serving as models for enhancing overall carrying capacity and driving coordinated development in surrounding areas.
