Longtouhuan Village in Zhongshan's Shaxi Town with excitement on April 19 buzzed, as the Shaxi Sanyuesan(the third day of the third lunar month) festival folk parade took place, drawing crowds of villagers and tourists.

The procession snaked through the village lanes — lined with green-brick houses, ancestral halls, and traditional overseas Chinese residences — serving as a living bond that unites Shaxi people and preserves their cultural heritage.

The Shaxi Sanyuesanfestival, which was inscribed on Guangdong's provincial intangible cultural heritage list in 2015, featured a giant golden dragon this year.

The 202.6-meter golden dragon, with its head alone weighing 25 kilograms, required seamless coordination from 80 performers to maneuver, while 160 support staff ensured smooth operations throughout the parade.

Wherever the dragon passed, attendees rushed to touch its whiskers, pass beneath its body, or brush its tail — rituals believed to attract good fortune and blessings.
