2026-03-09

The 39th Zhongshan Charity Parade took place as scheduled on March 3. At the intersection of Xingzhong Avenue and Bo'ai Road, the air was filled with the sounds of gongs and drums, and dragons and lions danced in a vibrant and auspicious atmosphere. More than 260 contingents from all walks of life, totaling over 10,000 participants, marched proudly forward and interacted with residents and visitors along the street.

A robot formation jointly presented by the Zhongshan Federation of Trade Unions and Zhongshan Jianbin Vocational Technical School became one of the highlights of the parade. Li Siwen, Deputy Director of the Zhongshan Workers' Cultural Palace, introduced the team: "Our robot squad features two AI humanoid robots and six biomimetic quadruped robots. This is the first time robots have taken part in the Zhongshan Charity Parade. They can shake hands, clap, greet people, offer New Year wishes, and even dance to music. They are usually used in performances and training programs for workers."

The Industrial Technology Innovation Formation, organized by the Zhongshan Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, showcased the strength of "Made in Zhongshan". Within the team, various products, including legged robots and wheeled humanoid robots, naturally drew the most attention.

Among them, two striking mechanical dogs in silver-gray and black, with sharp and robust designs, stood out. They are produced by Guangdong Kunpeng Intelligent Machinery Equipment Co Ltd (Kunpeng). Ye Guanzhang, head of the marketing department, explained that the robotic dog, named KP50 and manufactured in Zhongshan, is not an entertainment or educational toy but a heavy-duty industrial device. It can carry loads exceeding 50 kilograms and has a battery life of more than four hours without a load.

According to Kunpeng, the robotic dog is not a gimmick but a mobile transportation platform. It can be equipped with dual-light gimbals, loudspeakers, and gas detectors, and applied in hazardous scenarios such as electrical inspection, petrochemical security, and industrial park patrols.

Also attracting significant attention was the embodied intelligent robot called HOSON-Robot, independently developed by Shenzhen Xinyichang Technology Co Ltd, an enterprise based in Cuiheng New District. The wheeled humanoid robots are designed for production line applications. Its motion controller ("cerebellum"), dexterous hands, and joint modules are all independently developed and manufactured by this company.

Along Xingzhong Avenue, the advanced equipment exhibition zone showcased FCourier's drones, XSTO's intelligent robotic wheelchairs, the robotic lion dancers of Jinsan Intelligent Technology Co Ltd, and the smart cleaning vehicles of New Century Electrical Manufacturing (Zhongshan) Co Ltd. As one staff member on-site put it, "We are showing off all the best of Zhongshan."
