A delegation from Zhongshan recently visited Spain and Portugal, leveraging city diplomacy to deepen interactions with European nations across economy, technology and culture. During the trip, the delegation engaged in friendly exchanges with Spain's Barcelona and Portugal's Alenquer, and formally established cooperative ties with Spain's Deltebre through the signing of a memorandum of friendly cooperation.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership. Zhongshan, boasting a robust industrial foundation and dynamic economy, has further amplified its strategic position with the opening of the ShenZhong Link, integrating into the Greater Bay Area's infrastructure network. Deltebre, renowned for its scenic beauty, favorable climate and thriving tourism, excels in modernized agriculture including rice cultivation and aquaculture. The signing will serve as a launchpad for bilateral collaboration in such areas as trade, tourism and smart agriculture.

To date, Zhongshan has forged sister-city relationships with 6 international cities and signed memorandums of friendly cooperation with 18 others.
