On July 2, Luis Gustavo Cordero Jon Tay, president of the Peru-China Parliamentary Friendship League, returned to his grandfather's village — Simen Village in Torch Development Zone, Zhongshan. He enjoyed Lingnan's finest fruits and handmade local delicacies, explored family history, and received a Chinese name from his cousin under the ancient banyan tree.

With a heartfelt affection for his homeland, Gustavo has been committed to promoting friendly Peru-China relations. Last year, he proposed that February 1 be designated as "Peru-China Friendship Day", and this proposal was approved by the Peruvian parliament.
