Equipment manufacturing industry (EMI) in the west bank area of the Pearl River Delta has been greatly promoted by the provincial government. Yesterday morning, a contract signing ceremony for the development of EMI was held. It is stressed by Guangdong Party Committee and government that an equipment manufacturing industrial cluster will be built around the west bank of the PRD (Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Yangjiang, Shunde).

Twenty-three EMI projects to be built in Zhongshan have been signed on the ceremony with total investment 31.8 billion yuan. Party Secretary and Director of the Standing Committee of the municipal People’s Congress Xue Xiaofeng said that the practice of Zhongshan has proved that the development of EMI is benefiting for the development of the whole city. He hoped that the “Zhongshan-Made” EMI could be promoted and become one of the growth poles of the west bank of the PRD, and thus to realize industrial restructuring, upgrading and sustainable development.

The total output value of the EMI above designated level reaches 200 billion yuan and the city will strive to realized output value 300 billion yuan in 2017 and 400 billion yuan in 2020.
